The "Biker Dog Run" is an event where dogs who ride motorcycles gather together to have fun with their guardians and other friends! We meet at least once per year, sometimes in multiple regions simultaneously, ride to interesting places, and have an informal picnic / BBQ. Each biker dog that attends receives a free run pin to commemorate the occasion. We collect donations for animal-related charities during the event.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA REGION

Next event: Sunday, September 21st, 2008 - 6th Annual Biker Dog Run - Online sign-up required to participate (below).
Run pins: Each attending biker dog receives a free "6th Annual Biker Dog" run pin. Extra run pins will be available for purchase, including those commemorating past events, a collection of ten other classic biker dog run pins.
Meeting at: Noon - Top of Mt. Diablo! (or meet earlier in Oakland and ride as a group to the top of Mt. Diablo. See "Alternate meeting place" below.) If you've never been to Mt. Diablo, you are in for an adventure! Mt. Diablo directions/map
Alternate meeting place at: 10:00 AM - Montclair business district in front of Peets Coffee, 2066 Antioch Ct, Oakland, CA 94611. Leaving at 10:30 AM sharp. Ride as a group taking the scenic route. BBQ/picnic: After enjoying the view from the top, we ride as a group to a reserved picnic/BBQ spot half way down the mountain called "BBQ Terrace"***. This is where the run pins will be provided. This is a potluck / bring-your-own-grill-food event. We will provide sundries like charcoal, bottled water, soft drinks, picnic plates, cups & utensils, etc. We will also provide a large salad. If you choose to join us at the alternate meeting place, you can transfer stuff to be kept cold to an ice chest which will be transported to the BBQ site. Additional information provided when you sign up (blue link below).
Costs: The state park charges a nominal entry fee of $6 per vehicle.
Donations: Any donation you make will benefit Discovery Dogs who train dogs to assist the disabled (we ask for $15 at the event).
Release: By participating in this event you are agreeing to hold sponsors, organizers, and event volunteers harmless in the event of unforeseen accidents or injury; you participate at your own risk. The 10 miles of roads leading to the top are paved but have some very sharp curves and sometimes there is gravel sprinkled on the pavement from embankments. There are steep drop-offs, so you must drive carefully. Park rules do not allow alcohal for this reason.

*** Just in case you miss the meeting places:
You should hook up with us at the BBQ site, located in Mt. Diablo State Park on North Gate Road between the north gate entrance and Summit Road.
Look for a sign stating "BBQ Terrace" the same sign also mentions "equestrian" and "group camp".
Yup, if you like you can camp overnight! Our reservation for the area is good until noon the next day.
